What Snipzi does with your data — all of it, in one page.

Last updated 3 Oct 2026

The short version

Snipzi's capture and editing never touch a server. There is nothing to sign into, no screenshot gets uploaded, and nothing is tracked. Every capture is rendered, styled and exported on your own machine, by code that ships in the extension you installed — not by a service somewhere else. The contact form on this website is separate: it sends the information you enter to Netlify Forms.

What's stored, and where

Everything below stays in your browser profile, on your device:

  • Your last 10 captures — kept in this browser's IndexedDB so the editor can reopen a recent shot. Each saved record contains the screenshot, the captured page's full URL, title and host, a description of the selected element or region, the capture time and image dimensions. The 11th capture removes the oldest record.
  • Your style preferences — the background, shadow, border and frame settings you last used, kept in the extension's local storage so a new capture starts from the look you already dialled in.

Images you open or paste into the editor are processed locally for that editing session. Snipzi does not add them to recent captures. Exporting or copying an image saves it to the destination you choose.

Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage. There is no separate account or backend copy to ask us to delete.

Earlier launch update requests

If you previously requested a launch update, the email address you entered was processed and stored by Netlify Forms. The signup form is now closed. Netlify processes form requests under its own service terms and privacy policy. We did not collect screenshots or page URLs through that form. To request removal of your email, use the contact form below.

Contact and privacy requests

Send feedback, report a problem or request removal of an earlier launch update email here. The category, email address and message you enter are processed and stored by Netlify Forms so we can respond. Do not include screenshots or sensitive information in your message.

We use your email to reply. This form does not upload a capture from the extension.

What never happens

  • No upload. The pixels Snipzi captures never leave your machine.
  • No account. There is nothing to register, sign into, or log out of.
  • No analytics. Snipzi doesn't know you clicked the icon, picked an element, or exported a file — it isn't watching.
  • No third-party SDK in the extension. No ad network or crash reporter is embedded in Snipzi.

Why it needs the permissions it asks for

activeTab — access to the page you're on, granted only at the moment you click the toolbar icon or press the capture shortcut, and only for that one tab. Snipzi cannot read or run on a tab you haven't explicitly asked it to capture.

scripting — to draw the element picker's highlight overlay and read what you clicked on. storage and unlimitedStorage — for the local captures and preferences described above; the latter exists because a full-page capture of a long document can be a large image, and the default storage quota is easy to hit honestly, not because Snipzi is trying to accumulate data.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Snipzi uses information received from Chrome APIs only to provide its screenshot capture, editing and export features. Our use of that information adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell captured data, use it for personalized advertising or credit decisions, or let our team view it.
